Cars in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police stated they were contacted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials said they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking official stated the attack left him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
