Per recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided evidence indicating Maxwell is working on the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” the convict with document preparation and submission to support her bid for executive mercy.

The exact content of the “commutation application” remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for Maxwell and her guests.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Further perks allegedly granted to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has considered,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, Maxwell was transferred from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also previously served as the President's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether Trump had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to arrange her with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, relatives or agents have made any commitments to the President or his legal team.

The representative requested for a reply to the inquiries by 24 November.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
